Have you finally decided that it is time to visit the United States? You currently have a valid passport? Perhaps you are not from one of the many countries that are approved through the ESTA system. It’s also possible that you may want to have access to this visa for the next decade, and not have to worry about going through the electronic system for travel authorization process during that time. Regardless of why you need one, there are different types that you can get for the next time that you visit the US.
Steps For Getting A USA Visa
If you are traveling to the US, you can do so under a couple of different visas. The first is designated for those that are traveling on business. The other is for tourism. The B-1 is for individuals that are working for companies that will send them to the United States frequently. The B-2 is for everyone else that happens to be traveling just to go on a vacation. If you want to apply, find a US consulate or embassy. You will need to fill out the DS-160 on the web. A photo of yourself must also be taken by a professional that fits a certain criteria. An interview must be scheduled, and once that is done, you will hear back from those that will provide you with the approval.
How Long Will It Take To Get Approved?
If all goes well, and they do not need any additional documentation, it can take on average about four weeks. It also depends on the type of visa that you are applying for. It may also have to do with whether or not this is your first time to the country. Once you have received this back, there will either be a stamp in your passport or a separate visa document. Either one of these will serve as proof that you now have a USA visa that will allow you to travel into the United States for either business or a vacation.
